Overview
DATA-MNKY is the cluster node optimized for CPU core count and disk capacity. It is a strong candidate for CPU-bound workloads, larger VM/LXC footprints, and storage-heavy services that do not require GPU acceleration.
This deep dive is based on the hardware snapshot collected at:
System identity
Fromdmidecode -t system:
- Manufacturer: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
- Product Name:
X570D4U - SMBIOS: 3.3.0
- UUID:
7533e379-96c4-49d9-f452-a8a159c72074 - Boot: EFI, Secure Boot disabled (cluster standard)
- OS / kernel: Proxmox VE 8.4.17 on
6.8.12-19-pve
X570D4U platform suggests a server-oriented AM4 motherboard configuration; use the full dmidecode-* outputs for board, BIOS, and DIMM slot details.
CPU topology
Fromlscpu.txt:
- CPU model: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor
- Sockets: 1
- Cores / threads: 8 / 16
- Boost: enabled
- Max MHz: ~4663 MHz
- Virtualization: AMD-V
- Caches:
- L1d/L1i: 256 KiB (8 instances each)
- L2: 4 MiB (8 instances)
- L3: 32 MiB (1 instance)
- NUMA: 1 node (node0)
lscpu vulnerability section): this node reports “no microcode” for some mitigations (e.g. Spec rstack overflow, TSA). Treat BIOS/microcode updates as a first-class maintenance task for this node.
Memory configuration
Fromdmidecode-memory.txt, meminfo.txt, and free-h.txt:
- Installed memory: ~62.7 GiB (cluster summary)
- DIMM layout: recorded in
dmidecode-memory.txt(slot population, speeds, vendor, part numbers) - NUMA: single node, no cross-node memory penalties
dmidecode-memory.txt to identify free slots and module uniformity (mixing ranks/speeds can affect stability).
Storage layout (ZFS and block)
Fromzpool-list.txt, zpool-status-rpool.txt, zfs-list.txt, lsblk.txt, and df-h.txt:
ZFS pools
DATA-MNKY currently exposes:
rpool:- Size: ~1.81 TiB
- Layout:
mirror-0over two NVMe devices (CT2000P3PSSD8_*) - Allocation: ~45.1 GiB used, ~1.77 TiB free
zfs-list.txt.
Block devices
Uselsblk.txt to map:
- NVMe models and serials
- partitioning (especially
part3used by ZFS) - filesystem mounts and zvol mappings
- Keep OS and core Proxmox services healthy on
rpool. - If you add a dedicated data pool later, document its vdev layout and intended workloads here.
Network configuration
Fromip-link.txt, ip-addr.txt, ip-route.txt, and ethtool-summary.txt:
- Linux bridges provide VM/LXC attachment to the cluster LAN.
- Interface link speeds, duplex, and offload are captured in
ethtool-summary.txt. - Routing is captured in
ip-route.txt(default gateway plus any storage/management routes).
PCI and USB topology
Fromlspci-nnvv.txt, lspci-tree.txt, lsusb.txt, and lsusb-tree.txt:
- Full PCI device inventory (chipset, NICs, storage controllers, any add-in cards).
- USB host controllers and attached devices.
- IOMMU/passthrough planning
- verifying device IDs after hardware changes
- confirming storage controller topology when expanding pools
Proxmox view (node + cluster)
Frompvesh-node-status.txt and pvesh-node-storage.txt:
- Node CPU/load/memory usage baseline at the time of capture.
- Proxmox storage definitions active on
DATA-MNKY(local pools +hyper-mnky-sharedNFS).
pvesh-cluster-nodes.txt:
- Confirms online status and cluster membership alongside CODE-MNKY, CASA-MNKY, and STUD-MNKY.
